Composer: Johann Sebastian Bach

Every music dealer is familiar with Henle's “Number 71” (HN71) because it has been one of the bestselling titles in our catalogue for decades. This is admittedly not only due to the reliable Urtext, the beautiful engraving and the high quality production; the popularity of this title in particular is, of course, also due to Bach's colorful, stylized dance music. The “French Suites” simply form part of the core repertoire of every pianist and piano student. The Henle edition, first published in 1956, can be seen as an important Urtext milestone. However, some teachers and pianists prefer a clean musical source. Henle has released these new versions of Urtext Editions without fingering to accommodate that. The normal Urtext Editions with fingering also remain available.
